660ft is a fair way down (1/8th mile?), but is it beyond recovery at that depth? I guess time will tell.
As the Mercury capsule “Liberty Bell 7” was successfully raised from nigh on 16000 feet, I wouldn’t have thought raising Crusader to be beyond the wit of man....

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

Whilst discussion is healthy may I ask that postings about Elvington are made following research and consideration of factual information. Should we lose the use of the runway 26 there will be no land speed sport in the UK. Thank You. Wise words. Less to do with any characteristic of the venue than...

Someone who insists they're right despite clear evidence they are wrong, is a mumpsimus (from the 16th century).
What's the plural?
Mumpsimi? Mumpsimuses? Multimumpsimus?

Re: Coniston Bye laws/Ruskin

Does it really say 'Starship Bluebird' at the bottom of that plate or has some joker been messing with Photoshop? Just took a peek at his Facebook and, yes, I can confirm that Brian Eastham does indeed call his motorcycle “Starship Bluebird”. If there was a symbol for “cringe” I would post it.....

Re: Coniston Bye laws/Ruskin

Respect is something you earn and Donald and Sir Malcom commanded that respect. However, riding their coat tails and attempting to capitalise on their successes does not command respect at all. Their energy would be better served supporting the people that have propelled Sir Malcom and Donald back ...

Re: Coniston Bye laws/Ruskin

From the “Regtransfers” advertisement, a quote from Gina Campbell:

“I think number plates are great fun, and in some cases very apt. They can tell you a lot about the owner.”

Now ain’t that the truth......

Re: Coniston Bye laws/Ruskin

But that seems to be a regular thing, I recall having to take time off work and driving to a house spending the entire day with a team of volunteers doing a fingertip search of what I can only describe as being a golf course in the rain for a certain lost St Christopher. A certain lost St. Christop...

Aye, do tell. Last time I looked they were on a Subaru in Coniston (presumably Novie’s?) and now they are on a new BMW motorbike. Odd that...
