Re: Technical Talk
Hi all. Finally got to the Ruskin Museum this morning, my first chance since around 2011. It was both fantastic and fascinating to see the sponsons up close, having seen only photos up until now. Must have been a pretty hefty job transporting/bringing them in! As a kid I remember being surprised by ...

Re: Technical Talk
Hi All, hope you guys are all well. I haven't been able to do any work on the Touchwood kit since March, as I've been too busy with finishing my college studies and working/trying to find work experience etc. Hoping to get back to Bluebird soon! In the meantime I've kept my eye on the photo of the d...

Re: Pic of the Day
Is it known if the grey underside came up under the nose & if so how far? If you have a copy of Neil Sheppard's fantastic book, I'm pretty sure (if memory serves) that there's a nice shot in there of Bluebird's nose underside, showing where the grey stops. I haven't got it to hand at the moment...

Re: Technical Talk
I've seen that in a few colour photos, I've always thought it looks a bit like shammy leather material.

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models
...and back on goes the jig for the cockpit sides, which I last year re-shaped with reference to the planform in ''The Engineer''. Before long however, it became clear that this didn't look right. The second photo shows how I've mistakenly given them a very gradual, concave slope. I made the new pro...

Re: Technical Talk
Fantastic stuff, will that be on the project's next YouTube progress update? I really love hearing the spooling-up of jet engines. If I said that anywhere but on this forum I'd probably get weary looks and 'boyman' type comments.

Re: Technical Talk
Nice work Steve, the dials look great. I've made the dynotape labels in word, and although they're tiny, you can just see the red/black/blue broken up by white. At first I hadn't been able to get anything that small to look ok but I tweaked the settings a bit. With a lens you can read them. I did st...

Re: Technical Talk
Cheers Bill, that looks amazing. I'm enjoying working out how to make the various sections of 1/12 Orph, and the plate in this picture has exactly the right metallic look.

Re: Technical Talk
Actually speaking of boggling the mind, I've found a kit for making a 1/12 harness with photo-etched parts. How on earth they can make such tiny things so precisely boggles my mind. Helpfully there's a 1/12 decal sheet of cockpit instruments, too.
