Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

...in a legal sense, the wreckage of K7 now no longer exists (save for possibly a few small shards of twisted metal at the bottom of Coniston, and the corroded jet engine in the museum)... And yet, ironically, BBP has spent years trying to convince us of how much of the boat is original... I seem t...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

A few thoughts for you to ponder perhaps, Ernie. The Ruskin was deeded the wreckage of K7. However, in a legal sense, the wreckage of K7 now no longer exists (save for possibly a few small shards of twisted metal at the bottom of Coniston, and the corroded jet engine in the museum). The boat itself ...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Donald Campbell is known to have said “Donald and boat stay together.” Returning Bluebird to Coniston where Campbell is buried will ensure, as best we can, that those wishes are fulfilled. Indeed. He is known to have said it in Dumbelyung as folks tried to persuade him to leave for Blighty as a rec...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Another odd spot on the Ruskin Museum's website - there is an icon for "News & Events". The oddity is that it depicts the BBP with K7. Clicking on the icon reveals this at the top of the page: Statement from The Trustees When the wreckage of Donald Campbell’s Bluebird K7 (‘Bluebird’) was handed over...

'Sometimes you gotta be an S.O.B if you wanna make a dream reality' Mark Knopfler

Boom, Like That.

Dunno if that really rings true here, Bill...Great song though.

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Signed contract = legally binding agreement between two or more parties to complete something. Verbal agreement, non binding often misinterpreted..... Promise , often broken or empty ie “the check is in the mail” or “I’ll pay you back next week” I guess there is a degree of schadenfreude in this fo...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Good Lord. I have nothing to offer you and the team but my support from afar, Bill. I cannot fathom what they're trying to achieve by doing this.

Re: Bluebird Runs 2019

That is a shame, but not unexpected going by past track record. A public run would have been a great opportunity for the Rusken to raise awareness for itself, and also for the Lakes District. It would also have been an opportunity for them to actually be involved with the running of the boat too, ev...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Seems like a well thought out plan to me. Unfortunately, impatience beats practicality (again...). If you can convince them that it was their idea though... The problem is that the committee mentality was designed to fill a vacuum where no useful leadership existed so that everyone feels important ...
