Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Two things there immediately boiled my blood. First, this from Vicky- I understand that, as engineers, they think machines should work. But more and more of the original materials might have to be reinforced and replaced. Absolute b******s. The machine has already had all that done, to make it the l...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Absolutely- it's not a powerboat. The second week was really good though with Ted making some nice controlled runs up and down and the plane often held until right down to lower speeds. Driver 2 will be done with learning to fly the F-35 so we'll have both drivers on hand again next time so it shoul...

Re: Pic of the Day

The pic of the day slot on the main site home page is occupied by whatever is our current tweet, enabling us to sometimes make multiple updates now from a single workshop session, etc. Much better! If work doesn't let you see, it's all still there on twitter for when you get home!

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

Finally, someone from Coniston has broken cover and actually spoken to the press- https://www.nwemail.co.uk/news/17416215.homecoming-of-donald-campbells-bluebird-to-coniston-postponed/ No mention of making a start on 2020, however. Maybe now some of the Coniston residents who I see commenting on soc...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

If someone had put it to him that after an accident the boat would be recovered and rebuilt to be driven by someone else as a form of public entertainment one does not have to think too hard to conjure up his reply. I hesitate to put words in his mouth, but personally I think he'd be humbled and gr...

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

That said the clerk to the parish council is usually the one who has some idea what's going on and I am wondering if the BEWG has someone who collates all the relevant information from those heavily involved in formulating a plan. Maybe that's expecting too much? I believe the BEWG and Parish Counc...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Hi, and welcome. We don't supply plans for the boat but there are people on here that will. None of the available plans (or kits) are totally accurate, but some are at least reasonable starting points.

Re: Donald Campbell's restored Bluebird in museum home row

It's a shame, but not unexpected I suppose. With the lack of any actual explanation one assumes that the scale of the task finally dawned on them and they'll now crack on and deliver a world class event for 2020- which to be honest I thought they should have aimed for in the first place.
