Whats the reason for moving the front spar higher? Was it to increase the angle of attack on the sponsons or was there some other reason (aero)? Looking at the above pic the spar seems to drop down again to its mounting with the sponsons? Was there a problem with the design from day one or was it do...

Im sat here looking at the latest pic of the day and wondering why there is a cover over the hole where the front spar would pass through? In the text i see it says "spar box closing plate" - what is the reason for this plate? :?
