Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

Cessnas and Airbuses shouldn't be flying on the edge. Fast jets do, a lot of the time. They are more prone to accidents, on account of the way they are flown - even in training. Nigel Why ? Just pilot bravado, going back to cars thats like saying a Ford Focus on the motorway isn't on the edge but a...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

I've not read the rest of this thread yet - there seem to have been some lengthy posts overnight - but to address this one point of Alain's ... The problem is that fast jets don't just put their crews in life-threatening situations when they are "doing something stupid". There can be technical malf...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

I know, but I wasn't referring to swept wings - I was referring to bang-seats. Alain said that in his opinion, "all non-military craft should have ejector seats disabled". Whereas I think it's better to have active seats, because even JPs were fitted with them as standard for a very good reason. 'M...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

It's not about being shot down, lt's because those swept wing aircraft simply won't fly without engine power and may have to be abandoned in the event of engine failure. As l understand it all swept wing aircraft must have a live seat for that reason. All the more reason to keep the aircraft mainta...

Re: The Vulcan XH558 & General Aviation Thread

Presumably then you apply that to the several thousand aircraft that are in the sky at any given moment?! Only the ones that are not in compliance with their permits to fly Thats like saying a car is unsafe to drive with an expired MOT yes it hasn't got its bit of paper but it could be perfectly sa...

Re: Technical Talk

Well l'm going to shamelessly claim the title for most hours worked, that's just how it is, but everyone brings something to the party. The team is just incredible, best l ever was privileged to work with bar-none. Can't argue with either statements, even if you are all P taking bar stewards wouldn...

Re: Technical Talk

Doing the website? Two diaries a year! ;) Yes it is now . Back then the diaries were a bit more frequent and all hard coded none of this copy and paste stuff would take a good few hours of coding to get them up. Not like the current site where I can sort it in under a hour depending on how pi...
