Re: Bute / Coniston Back to Back

I suppose I should help look for another stretch of water for a 'proving trial'. A 'homecoming' on the back of a transporter does not appeal to me. Knowing what we know now we will have to go back to the water to verify that some of our fixes have worked once we complete the rebuild - we can't,for ...

Re: Bute / Coniston Back to Back

The township's economy couldn't be faring too well, and will take a while to gain momentum again. I’m sure they’ll be fine. The news says ‘staycation’ bookings are skyrocketing so the camp sites, caravan parks and B&Bs will soon be bursting at the seams and at those good old Lake District price...

Re: Other Speed Record Breakers Are Available!

A terrible shame. How long before R-R ask for their engine back and then what? Switched off for good and consigned to gather dust in a crusty old museum? I very much hope someone steps up to take this forward but at the moment I'm just not seeing it.

Re: Bute / Coniston Back to Back

Is there any news on the legal negotiations, between the BBP and the Ruskin Museum, yet.....? The bundle went to the solicitors just before Christmas - an overwhelming body of evidence spanning more than a decade that BBP is to run and maintain the boat and the museum display it at other times, no ...

And let's not forget Clever Barry. His engines work too.

Re: 54 Years Ago - On This Day...

I can recall the Geordie 'bloke' at that evening meal, but who else were with you? I was with one of the other divers from our crew back then but for the life of me I can't remember which one. We had a good night, though then Dave Tremayne gave us a high speed lift back to our digs in his Sapphire ...

Re: 54 Years Ago - On This Day...

The legend of Donald Campbell had begun. When we had the crazy idea to search for the wreck in the summer of 96 we were unsuccessful but undaunted and it occurred to a few of us that if we quietly hung about on the morning of the 4th of January the following year we might meet some people who could...

Last time we were out on the lake the remains of that little jetty could still be found.

Re: Timing - How were DMC's Runs in K7 Timed....?

There was another part of the timing system with mechanically operated stopwatches. You can see it at about 38 seconds in on the BBP promo video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3V9r1zsFmVk No idea how it works or what else it's attached to- maybe it's all part of the same setup but there it is anyw...

Re: Coniston Bye laws/Ruskin

I may be optimistic in thinking that the decision makers responsible for the Ruskin Museum could decide that it would be 'correct' to have direct contact in early January 2021 with the BBP. This would allow time for the craft to be on water later in the forthcoming year. There would be sufficient t...
