Changing the subject slightly... Work Set to Start on Burma Spitfire Recovery http://www.flyingmag.com/pilots-places/pilots-adventures-more/work-set-start-burma-spitfire-recovery Reads that the plan is to start work on 12th Jan, so there should be some news soon. Glad we didn't make the fuel systems...

Just watched a brilliant documentry on BBC 4, ithink about the Old British jet industry. Fascinating. Showed a bit from The Farnbrourh air show when a jet broke up in the air killing the two pilots. The engines then shot into the crowd killing 28 spectators. health and safety officials at the time ...

An architect involved with building the motor museum at Gaydon (former RAF base) told me years ago that the mound of earth next to the drive leading up to the museum contained the fuselages of several (can't remember how many now) retired Vulcans.

May be true... May be not... Any takers?
