I always loved that Quicksilver four-pointer. Got a very nice cast resin one on my desk you can use for reference.

Oh, I had seen pictures of that design, but had not recognized it as "the" 4-pointer. To me it was a good idea to switch to the next version. With todays RC technology it would be interresting to try such designs. A lot can be learned on a small budget and without risking lifes.

Joerg. when I first saw the original quicksilver design I questioned it being a 4 pointer. The front planning area is split into two halves plus the two rear sponsons. My view is the front planning surfaces are effectively one so its a three pointer design. Happy to have someone disagree on that point.

I think I will do the original Quicksilver. All up cost with a gas turbine engine should be around £2500. Finding suitable water in the UK to run these models is very difficult. IC engine powered models are being increasingly banned from waters however I am sure we will find one. Probably in the lake district again.

I remember your SOA model Ernie - what a great job.
I’d be interested to see both the new SOA and the original Q/S concept as a GT model.
Maybe once I’ve finished my 1/8 K7, 1/12 crusader and r/c 1/20 CN7 in about 20 years time...
