However you look at it, its an opportunity to raise money for the project, and that has to be a good thing?
I was actually being halfway serious, we ought to have some sort of gathering. After all, the Donald Campbell Speed Gofaster Supporters Appreciation Society manage so why not us? Just a few beers, a small auction and a presentation or two - nowt ambitious.

Speaking of money, we had a windfall today but it's bittersweet. I'll not mention the bloke's name until I've spoken with his family but we used to have a regular donor to the project until one day he disappeared. Next thing I hear about him is a letter from his father saying he'd been fatally injured in a road accident then his lawyers got in touch to say he'd thought of us in his will and today a cheque arrived.

Do you wish me to have a word with the organiser of the "DCSGSAS" events to see what could be done for and on behalf of the BBP?

Sir Malcolm, if you would like to organise a conference for us we will give it 100% from our side to make it a hit - I'm sure.

There'd be the very special guests of course; There'd be a dealer room; The attendees would be wandering about and of course some would have come in costume; Part of the days activities will be the First Screening Ever Since The Last LakeCon of the fabled missing three seconds of footage; A very special personal message will be read out from Sir Anthony himself; there will of course be a special screening of 'Across The Lake' with full audience participation, The last few stragglers will take part in a quiz; Tickets £150 per day, or £350 if you want to Have Breakfast With The Stars. See you there. ;)
Bill, I thought Mike would have had the conference all worked out as the edited quote shows he has given mind to 'LakeCon', perhaps including where to hold the event in Coniston ?

If there is an interest in something happening, which embraces the BBP and the work in North Shields, and Mike has widgets to fit, then I will see what can be done, even when no one is visiting the village

Evening
Having put forward a very simple idea on several occasions after the 14 mile sponsored run I did way back in 2002 which I feel certain the speed fraternity and the general public would want to do above all other. We are now in a far better position to offer such an idea I strongly believe would raise serious funding for the project and could be Incorporated into any convention type gathering. At the time the idea was given its blessing by both Gina and Bill and would cost the project very little to organise and administer. A win win situation to raise funds that are on the low side I would hazard a guess at given the recent outlay?
Whats the idea I hear you all asking? Well I will leave that for now as Bill will know to what I am referring to and to see if anything can be put together re- a gathering as Bill stated he is deadly serious and now would be a perfect time to start the ball rolling on such an idea.

No doubt we will all learn of the idea soon.

I remember dining with Novie after that run - an effort I would not undertake. Happy to give him sponsorship support.

With regard to the worshop being part of any conference, there are a number of modern ways to get shown around a facility without being there. It just takes good camera work with a live link. [Not an new idea as Richard Noble did this for people attending the Motor Show in London and there was a live link to G-Force factory site at Fontwell, Sussex during the build of Thrust SSC.]

Now if Bill would expand the rebuild facility by a factor of ten say in total floor area, we could probably do an open day similar to the BLOODHOUND SSC member/guest days.

Me too, hopefully. I'm afraid I will have to be reminded. Not like me at all.

This is getting serious - first, Ken suggested I could add up in my head, and now Novie is accusing me of being able to remember stuff!

So, yesterday I finally got that all important signature in my logbook which qualifys me to fly tailwheel aircraft.

Cheers to Christine my understanding instructor for putting up with my amateurish efforts, and who wasn't put off at all by my bouncing down the runway.

So, after 5 hours of Cub flying... What next? That Barracuda need pedaling?
