idea-before we all start fighting to buy this and donate it to the Project-(as I hope someone will)-how about ONE nominee bidding on it instead of all of us!-saves someone ending up paying £30 for it!Mike Bull wrote:There's a colour slide of K7 being transported on Ebay today as it happens-

Hi all,
I've just recieved an article from a friend in London. It's shows K7 in transit during 1958. I'll try and scan it, and post it on my site so you can all see it.
Regards to all, Fred

Theres being original and theres being intelligent-the original wheeled trailer looked like a pig to handle, heavy and probably none too safe-Would we not be better off with a modern hydraulic breakback with good brakes,an electrically powered winch, and capable of being both road towed and launched from?-K7 after all in boat terms is actually quite light and not excessively long-about 26 feet or so?-well inside the regulations for being towed.Common sense should in this instance prevail methinks-both for H&S and prevention of damage to K7 while being launched.Ok please form an orderly line to throw bricks at the blasphemer please!

Re: K7's Wheeled Cradle
How about a flatbed with an eight ton Hiab? We could launch from the lake road with that setup and take the boat home every evening if we felt the need.

Re: K7's Wheeled Cradle
True-but who got the HGV licence then?-ok me but too far away!-yeah that would be pretty cool-especially perhaps one of her majesties khaki numbers with 6 wheel drive-anyone got a back door into the Royal Transport co?-or AF Ross in Girvan but much wampum needed for one of his-still need a frame to launch K7 if using a Hiab as well but know a place with a few welders hangin around in North Shields----Renegadenemo wrote:How about a flatbed with an eight ton Hiab? Re: K7's Wheeled Cradle
Dunno-not conversant with Coniston-assumed a slip there of some sort-but handy if needed to launch in other venues as I think will eventually happen now and again-also probably within weight limit to tow with big 4x4 or wee truck.malcolm uk wrote:No bricks ........... but where would you launch from with this new equipment?

Re: K7's Wheeled Cradle
K7 is way too big to tow on the highway on a trailer behind a 4x4, she'll need a truck and as for slips there's only really the boating centre or Pier Cottage that would take her neither of which are especially suitable. There are, however, other private sites here and there from which she could be lifted into the water. They're all options at the moment. We'll see.
