I think this is a great initiative .... I just hope the likely opposition to road closures etc can be overcome. I'm sure the Capital would benefit enormously from such an event.

You do know which organisation was promoting this idea last week. A good ploy when you wish to deflect attention from the real problems in your business World.

This GP has as much legs as any of the plans to reintroduce F1 to Brands Hatch. In other word a flock of 'flying pigs' will need to be going across the sky.

............. and as for the single file section, surely not even Bernie could get that past the FIA track safety inspector.

Why can't we have a GP in a city away from the capital? Is it because the Superprix held for five years on the streets of Birmingham showed how difficult and at time dangerous such events can be?

Enlighten us Malcolm which organization was putting this idea to detract peoples attention away from what exactly? Been in sunny Ireland/Belfast for a brilliant holiday this past week you see lost touch with what was happening in England until I got back. However I have to agree with Malcolm I cannot see it coming off and I doubt the Queen would want it anywhere near B.P, mind you I suppose they could use the balcony as the podium

The company in question was the only one which had its name on the computer graphic race scenes - Santander, the Spanish bank. They used their support for McLaren F1 to get Lewis and Jenson to front the press launch and their two cars to be the racers on the 'track'. They are a bank who has needed financial bailing out under EU assistance to the Euro.

Anyway enough of politics - never good for a forum.

The only glimmer of hope is that the UK Motor Sports Association are seeking parliament to assist in allowing racing on closed public highways, which has been banned in England. But I still await the pigs to fly past first.
