The consultation regarding the use of Coniston Water for the trials location has been concluded by the LDNPA and the officers report will be placed in front of the Authority Committee next Wednesday.
With specific conditions applied regarding timing, health and safety and environmental considerations, the officers recommend an amendement of the byelaws to allow Donald Campbell's Bluebird K7 to run at over 10 mph. We hope to see the members of the Authority agree to this at their meeting.
This is another hurdle we have cleared in the operations planning (getting a firm recommendation) but there will be many more hurdles to get over before the 'big blue boat' is on the water and planing.
If you wish to see the papers they are in the committee section of the LDNPA website (May 20th date). Go to http://www.lake-district.gov.uk Even Ms B Jones gets a mention!

Re: Trials Locations
It might still be early days, but this sounds like really good news to me.
It goes to show how much "unsung" work goes on in the background to make things happen, so from me to all involved in this decision process (especially Malcolm) a big "Well Done" and "Thank You".

And I'm on my knees looking for the answer, are we Human or are we Dancer.

Ah, our old friend Bridget, fame at last... Seriously though, well done and huge thanks are due to the op's department for bringing us this far. Hurdles, hoops, we've jumped throuh or over lots of those to date so a few more oughtn't be a problem.

That sounds like very good news, indeed. Rarely do Authorities reject the recommendations of Sub-Committees.

Hello Everyone,
Congratulations on returning Bluebird to lakeworthiness! I have just seen the report on the Beeb and think its fantastic that she is going to have a 100mph run. Any prospective dates?
Best regards
Martin

Re: Trials Locations
Brilliant news - we were all at the meeting to see the process in action and we got the vote. Now we need to work up the risk assesments, etc but we can do that. The main thing is that the authority is on our side. Tremendously well done to Malcolm, Paul and Novie who make up our operations dept. This is their baby.
