Quick dip on the wreck of the Onesta for you then. Covered in shell cases, pewter inkwells, cut glass pots and portholes galore... It's recorded as having sunk at 53N but it's actually off Northumberland.

Interesting little discussion about whiskey too - every day is a school day. :D

How did they get that wrong then? And what is the true identity of the wreck in the Humber approaches that is (incorrectly?) believed to be the Onesta?

Scuba Claus got me my new stab jacket this year, so once I have repaired my suit and the sea gets unbroken, your on !

As long as it's not between the 23rd and 30th May, as I will be diving Zenobia, Alexander, plus anything else Richie Stephenson finds for me in the MED basin between those dates. :D

I reckon there's more wrecks incorrectly identified than those they have right. Onesta was an easy one - it still had the name in brass letters on the stern plates. I have the 'S' as a souvenir.

Another good example is the German sub, UB115. The position is well documented not far from Onesta and there's a wreck there but it was never a submarine unless they included a pair of steam boilers in its construction.

I'll go with that but best if I follow your lead and do a drysuit course first followed by the lobster catcher speciality ;)

I would so like to teach a lobster catching specialty. That would be fun. We could begin with basic lobster hook technique then progress through every permutation of snaring the little snacks right through to squirting Fairy Liquid into their lairs to flush them out. And to finish l could show you how to cook the perfect thermidor... And l'll throw in antagonising Velvet Swimmer Crabs with the hook FOC just for fun.
