Sponsons Display - Ruskin Museum Saturday 27th June

Post by Renegadenemo »

Not so much what we've been up to but what we're about to do... Next Sat, 27th, we're taking the finished sponsons, spars and one set of top fairings to display in the museum. It's a big job and we'll be there setting up all afternoon... then we'll no doubt be out for a pint later so if anyone wants to come and shout encouragement then join us for a beer later you know where we'll be.

I would be well up for lending a hand with this! Where and when would you be meeting in Coniston?

Driving 230 miles to shout encouragement on Saturday. I am informed the museum will be closed to members of the public during installation for Health & Safety reasons so I guess I'll have to shout encouragement through the windows. Seriously though, hope all goes smoothly - hope I can buy you a pint in the Black Bull.

We're hopeful that we'll get away with just roping off the relevant area but in the worst case we'll just have the place taken between about midday and 2.30-ish so come along anyway.

It's a Coniston website, It still says they have got the tailfin which we have had back for years
Placed up high on the wall by the big window we have the tailfin of Bluebird K7 on loan to the Museum
even the big window is no longer there as thats where the bluebird wing is now and that opened in 2008!!!

Mike Bull wrote:It'll be an interesting set up- even we've never seen the sponsons and spars assembled, but without the boat in the middle! Hope everyone takes the opportunity to view the display as it will be a unique look at parts of the boat that will eventually be hidden from sight. 8-)
For how long will the display be at the Ruskin?
