When I can find my capture hardware - I think I put it in the loft - I'm going to digitise the recording of final two runs so we can all have a go at filling in the blanks. The first run has lots of bits that are difficult to work out but the last few words before the crash are,
'I'm getting a lot of bloody row in here, I can't see anything'
There then follows a brief pause, presumably while he looks out the window and wonders what's occurring. Then he says,
'I've got the bows out' (He says 'out' very clearly though it's often replaced with 'up')
'I'm going!'
'Ugh...'

hi Mike - Do you think it would be possible to have a Recording of the what was said on the last run posted on the site as Audio ? I dont know if this would offend ?
But i would really like to hear a decent recording of what was said - and what better place to house it than here ?

Thanks for tidying the link up Mike, not quite sure why it didn't paste correctly. Chris

OK Ive just listned to it again after doing a bit of ruimentary sound editing, hiss and noise reduction...Its not perfect but I would now say that the 'Galloping over the top" sounds a lot more like "Can't get over the top" Again, very open to a mass debate. Chris
Re: Out of this World.......
I have done some sound editing myself and listened intently and I can't hear 'galloping over the top', to me it's 'I can't get over the top'. Everything else I would agree with and to me it's 'I've got the bows out'.
Also looking at each sound spike on the programme I use it spikes for every word and where he apparently says 'I can't get over the top' there are 6 spikes, if it were 'I'm galloping over the top' there would only be five.

I listened to just the Orpheous's note and you can clearly hear it running with no change in note or pitch righ up until the crash.

Re: Out of this World.......
That I can't answer but it's definately there when you listen although the engine could be spooling down (not sure how long an Orpheous takes to stop from full throttle) and as it's only a few seconds when Donald realises it's all going terriby wrong and come off the throttle so there won't be much change in the engine note.
That and it would be difficult to detect a change due to all the other noise and the quality of the recording.

According to my notes about 10 seconds or so from 100% to idle would be probable-can't say exactly, depends on whats running off the engine and forward momentum etc-Jordangbr wrote:That I can't answer but it's definately there when you listen although the engine could be spooling down (not sure how long an Orpheous takes to stop from full throttle) and as it's only a few seconds when Donald realises it's all going terriby wrong and come off the throttle so there won't be much change in the engine note.
