Blue Bird K3 Henley on Thames

Post by garyharman »

Blue Bird K3 was in Henley in Thames as part of the traditional boat festival last weekend.

The engine started fine for a warm up, but with delays due to “boats” on the course during the Sunday run the engine was stopped so no run was made.

I did manage a few photos:

Hi all,
It's owned by Karl Foulkes-Halbard and is based at Filching Manor Motor Museum. Polegate, near Eastbourne.

Have fun at Bute, I hope she behaves herself for you.

Regards to all, Fred

Looks amazing. Not really paid it much heed until now - shame on me... How much is original?

I wish I knew how much is original, and was it fitted with the Meteor engine etc...
I’m hoping to go for a look around and chat with Karl one day so I will find out more. Henley was not the right time or place fro detailed discussions.

A man in France called Steve Holter knows what was 'done' to the craft when owned by Paul Foulkes-Halbard. If he is not writing a book about K3 he might tell all  .

I don’t think Steve is doing a book on K3, I know he’s hard at it with Crusader.
Hopefully he’ll be on here soon, F1Steve or is it SteveF1???

I think you will find that a Centaur with a Meteor engine is a Cromwell; Centaurs used a Liberty V12.
Still yummy though... 👍
