Methinks this coming week could be the make or break time for 'home truths', and I may deliver them, as it was my plan to get the best for the village and the National Park from 2005/6. Watch this space .
I sincerely hope you do. Your work has been exemplary and those who stand to benefit most are thoroughly undeserving of your efforts. For my part, I have a few home-truths to deliver too.
For those who aren't aware, Malcolm and I are attending a meeting of the Hoopla Committee on Wednesday evening and it will be poo or vacate the toilet for them this time. They'd best achieve a previously unseen level of professionalism, motivation and dedication...

Haven’t had the meeting yet folks.... wait and see.

You may be surprised.

Then again...... statistics and the laws of averages often reveal specific behaviours with these things.

I am worn out with it all now. If you guys can get written proof or evidence that they have done or are doing their bit, it’d be great !

Furthermore I strongly recommend you record the meeting for your protection, as it will be the case that yet again we will be vilified and made to be “scapegoats”...

Which would be in accordance with Gina Campbell and the Campbell trust's original instructions, regards their gifting of Bluebird K7 to Coniston, correct?

Nope, not correct at all. There is no Campbell trust and Gina's last instructions were, "She's [K7] much too young to be stuck in some crusty old museum." (BBC One Show so approx seven million people heard her say it) So we are acting on current instructions.
Well said. Let's hope your good, selfless intentions prevail.
And l rather think the home truths in question will set out how Coniston is completely undeserving of the BBP's decade and a half of damned hard work.

I do not know where you get your information from Jett or who you talk to either in the family or the village. You could come and talk to me in an unpatronising way and learn how the history of running K7 came about some years before the foundations of the Bluebird Wing were laid down. All I have done is facilitate a return to Coniston of the craft that set four world water speed records on the lake that they the villagers have.

In August the LDNPA confirmed in writing that they wish the boat to be shown operating across the water, but then in October they add some ‘silly’ requirements to be answered. I do not mind as writing is what I do.

I eat in establishments and drink in the pubs as well as walk around Coniston village so am easy to find when here. I was in conversation with Don Wales last week during records week, Gina Campbell when on Bute and soon members of the Festival group.

Should you Jett be of a mind that the wreck should have been left at the bottom of the lake just think how many pieces of blue tin might now be available on internet sales sites.

I forgot that I am probably seen by Jett and some others as having a long spoon into the money lake that surrounds the BBP. NOPE. I am just a volunteer like all on the crew. Should anyone thrust a few pence at me it does not go towards my travel, food or lodging costs. That money is for the work on the boat.

Would it be a fair comment that Coniston village and the surrounding area are generally supportive and receptive towards Bluebird K7 running on the lake, but are being stifled by the LDNPA?

In terms of the amazing pic Mike posted of K7 being paraded up in Scotland and the massive crowd support, there was a similar kind of situation back in Coniston in September 2001 despite the rain(!) and it being the days after September 11th!

I'm an irregular visitor to the village but have spoken to the people that run the museum, when I have visite. (Apparently, everyone that that visits the museum now is asking when Bluebird is returning and going in there). I've also followed the One Show and Sky News reports this year, and followed the debate on this forum and thread, particularly since the Loch Fad runs and the issuing of the Ruskin statement, which drew responses such as this:
Ernie Lazenby wrote: Fri Sep 07, 2018 7:04 pm The statement makes it very clear who owns K7- The Ruskin Museum trust. Thankfully that's now cleared up. Also very clear they expect it to remain at Coniston. Good to read some clarification from the other side.
And this from yourself:
Malcolm Ops wrote: Fri Sep 07, 2018 7:32 pm The Coniston Institute and Ruskin Museum, Report and Accounts, has always spelt out their 'ownership' since 2007.

I quote, "The Trust owns the wreck of the Bluebird".

What this thread should be looking forward to is the one off Proving Trial for Bluebird K7 as is defined in the Bye Laws for Coniston Water.
As far as this goes:

....I'm not of that mind. And I wasn't being patronising when I applauded your post about getting the best for the village and the National Park. Sorry if it came across that way.

Difficult to say because they have had over ten years to get their preparations done and in that time the village could have properly stuffed the LDNPA. The LDNPA wants an application to host an event (Coniston's event) along with several very in-depth and robust reports all of which could have been done a long time ago. There also appears to be a few who would, if they could, stuff the boat in the museum and lock the doors behind her in direct contradiction of Gina's wishes that the boat revisit all her old haunts and be shown off to as many as possible so it's difficult to see what sort of support, if any, is coming from where.
