Can't wait for the interim AAIB report on that one. Nothing ever goes wrong on 74s these days so to have a missing chunk of undercarriage is quite a big event. Wonder if that Air Asia flight disappeared into the Indian Ocean too...

Short film-clip here from BBC News Shropshire about cleaning the aircraft that are suspended in the ceiling-space of Cosford's fabulous Cold War hangar.

This prompted me to google Buddy Holly and I found out that he was born on the same day as my dad. Coincidentally, his song "I guess it doesn't matter any more" was No.1 in the UK chart on the day I was born....Mike Bull wrote:That'll Be The Day...

Really can't see the point in this- what can there possibly be left new to say? The original investigation found that the pilot wasn't qualified to fly on instruments at night, and had repeatedly failed the test to do so, regularly showing a tendency when flying blind to descend in wide turns rather than climb. The aircraft took off into immediate IFR conditions, and minutes later described a wide, descending turn under climbing power until it struck and cartwheeled across the ground. Gee, I wonder what caused that?!
