Those rivets look beautiful and as usual your attention to detail re the screw that you could have easily repaired out, it wasn't nonsense.

Any final riviting is exciting for those of us peering through the window and we appreciate its still going to be long process. Just out of curiosity have any of you been daft enough to estimate the final rivet count?
Re: Pic of the Day
Looking at the pic today BFG has a job on getting all those rivet holes to hit metal underneath, do you use the acetate method to ensure alignment?

We use the old, climb inside with a Sharpie and mark it all off on the back-side of the panel, method.

Jesus that sounds like a real pain...
There is quite a lot of aerospace work goes on around the Burnley/Barnoldswick area where I live.
Speaking to a few people that have replaced skins on various older air frames, they found that back in the day on the production line it was all done by the rack of the eye when the skins were fitted originally, in general 20-30% of rivets would miss their target. They told me the only way to make sure that they hit the target when replacing the skins was to get a thin piece of acetate or Mylar cut to the same shape & size as the skin panel, mark on it where to put the rivets, stick the clear sheet over the skin when it's on the air frame & drill through both.
I'm not trying to show you how to suck eggs as you have far more experience than me, that's for sure!!
