You could maybe force it to where you can glue it then stress-relieve it with your good lady's hairdryer once the glue has gone off.

I'm mulling over softening the smaller half in boiling water and pulling it to shape as a last ditch attempt to save it, but I'm not holding my breath and didn't try it today as I had lost my rag with the bloody thing!

As with my previous comments regarding the Speedline K7 kit I think it is a real liberty that Speedline models have the audacitiy to ask for £30 for this model and it doesnt even go together properly!!!! Might we worth an email to Adrian to see if he will replace the parts for you? Chris

It is a bit of a disgrace selling something for good money that even an experienced and skilful model-maker can't assemble without having to rework the major parts. Someone have a word... get it fixed.

I'm assuming that the piece that ended up wider just didn't pull down correctly when it was vac-formed,

So where's the quality assurance process? A simple go/no-go gauge would have weeded that one out. What's the excuse for turning out crap?

Simple. Cash in pocket and sod the poor sods who spend thier hard earned cash on what looks a decent buy looking at the finished models they show on E bay. Its certainly not the one your going to get though.

As far as I understand it, there is NO quality assurance process - the local vac form factory knock these out (who in themselves are actually alright based on the othet stuff they produce) and they get boxed up by Adrian Gossling at Speedline Models - whilst quite possibly wearing a mask and a striped jumper

Lack of quality control is obvious to anyone like myself who have been unfortunate enough to buy one of these so called models. As i said before i only got mine finished out of stuborness when my wife said you will never finish that. Took many trips to my local model shop and about another £15.00 on glues and model fillers to complete and it still doesnt look great.
They need to be took off the market till they can at least make the 2 main halves fit together.

My K7 version ended up in the skip out of frustration and the fact I had been ripped off near on thirty quid!

If they were just advertised on ebay as being for advanced modeller's only, that would be something.

I just hope stuff like this doesn't end up being sold alongside the boat when she's gone home- Little Johnny is going to want a toy Bluebird once he's seen her and comes back out via the shop, and can you imagine his face if he's bought a 'kit' like that..!

I agree, little (and as is often the case Big Johnny(!)) want something decent after parting with their hard earned. Speedline models describe their K7 kit on Ebay as "The Bluebird K7 of Donald Campbell - scale model kit 1/24th scale easy build kit for static dispaly or R/C" - Easy it aint...

AND on the Speedline website the CN7 description

"This is a 1/20th scale, multi-media kit of the ultimate Campbell dynasty car, Bluebird CN7. At over 400mm long it builds into an impressive model and is all the more unusual for being the only model kit of CN7 in the world!"

Now, I tried loading the kit into my PC's multimedia drive and am now in the process of pulling a load of plastic and paper out of the CD drive coz it didnt play And, its not the only CN7 model kit in the world, Mach One Models do a lovely 1:43 scale one (through Touchwood Models)

The wider half of the main body has just been brutally scalded with some boiling water and squeezed in until it begged for mercy to bring it's width somewhat closer to that of it's companion piece

I'm sure there's clubs and specialist websites where you can meet like-minded people to share your innermost desires...
