it is a good shot of them both, but in happier times.
Aye, 'tis a bittersweet pic, is that one. I think it works better in B&W though as Capt. Connacher was still using the same camera he had in 2001 and probably still is!

I gave him that camera to save his developing costs and I had it since 1993!!

Didn't catch that one but I do have copies of all his raw footage from all his expeds on Britannic, Carpathia and Titanic. Haven't been able to watch 'em yet though.

I attended the Coroner's inquest 'touching on the death' of Carl today.

Nothing I didn't know and the verdict of accidental death was expected but it's a relief to have it over and done with.

Now it's in the public domain it's worth noting that Carl was caught out by a wrongly labelled bottle of gas that he had brought and deployed. He breathed from it after getting into unrelated difficulties at depth and it was the final link in a tragic chain that cost him his life.

Four years... to those who knew Carl, raise a glass of diet Coke.

It's already been posted on the thread in the past but here is a link to a tribute which was done by Leigh Bishop and Carl's co divers...

Tragic loss of a diver at the top of his game. I never met the bloke, but from the many stories I have heard of him, I am sure I would have liked him had fate afforded me the privilege of his company!
