I take it the wheels on that are "part wheels" fixed to the bottom, or does it actually have axles??

I always told Fred Harris he should never give up with Replicast, what he produced with the equipment he had was boardering on genius!

Re: Bluebird Models
I have a couple of little Replicast K7s on my desk here. They're very good. Only problem with them is they're in the bare resin and look exactly like white chocolate so I've had to stop my kids trying to eat them on occasions.I always told Fred Harris he should never give up with Replicast, what he produced with the equipment he had was boardering on genius!

Re: Bluebird Models
Yep, the only problem with resin kits, and a bain to Fred, air bubbles! if you rubbed it down too much, more air bubbles, and if you primed it too much, you lost detail. Now if you look at Fred's 1/12 th scale Miss EnglandII, absolute masterpiece!

Re: Bluebird Models
We looked at casting clear resin to encapsulate rivets and the like and obviously you can't have bubbles in there so the answer is a vacuum chamber. You mix your resin, place the pot in the chamber then evacuate it until the bubbles expand to a size where they rise through the resin and pop at the surface. Give it a few minutes, equalise the chamber again and your resin is ready to pour.

Reminds me of a prescription I once heard of for a cold:
"Hot water, honey, single malt whisky - repeat dose until patient laughs and sings"
Doesn't cure the cold but stops you thinking about it
