If you have skills that could be used by the Bluebird Project during the major undertaking that will be the 'on water trials' of the rebuilt craft please leave me a note on this thread. Or if you prefer, send me a personal mail mentioning any prior experience.
Being involved with the operations will be more rewarding than just standing at the Bluebird Cafe.

HI THERE
if you need a support rescue boat driver i'm available, have had a 29' Scarab years ago a 26' Ring both well over 65 knotts and used a few times a 22' rib regatta rescue boat.
A friend of mine has just bought Ginas old boat, any truth in a rumor that Gina might be driving BLUEBIRD ?
What are the dates proposed to have her afloat?

I just have tekky IT experience but would pitch in with any general stuff needed by the team while I was there - i'm in London and probably wont get to be in Coniston for the whole week. Also, depending on how popular K7's homecoming is, it may be well difficult getting somewhere to stay within close reach of the lake. I'd imagine there'll be good crowds watching every time she runs in testing.
Isn't Gina an experienced powerboat racer? She'd be perfect to drive, although I think members of the team certainly deserve to have a go too.

Sorry but I don't think I will be of much help either as I work in higher education, unless you are tempted to run during vacations & weekends.
I also work as a photographer for a few GT Motor Racing teams so if I can help out in anyway let me know as I would like to be involved.

As we say in the workshop - if you can boil a kettle and operate a sweeping brush you can help. At least if someone else is doing it one of the tin-bashers can keep cracking on.
I assume Malcolm is building a database of those who offer to help so the upshot may well be that you find yourself sweeping the boathouse then going for a beer with the team that night, which has to be better than standing about on the shore wondering what time something is going to happen.
A couple of other points - Gina will NOT be driving her dad's boat, nor will any of the current team. K7 may be retired but she remains a formiddable piece of machinery and will only take to the water with a fully qualified and experienced pilot at the helm.

Bill is correct - a list will be prepared by me and my operations team colleagues (mainly because I am too old to remember things unless they are written down) and those who have offered will be contacted.
Inspite of many saying "I am just a (fill in the gap with your day job) ................, what can I contribute to the operation" just remember that skills are transferrable. [In case someone is tempted to say my hearing or mobilty or eyesight is poor or damaged - then offer to help the project team understand the needs of those with disabilities, so they can enjoy the Bluebird experience when we get to Coniston and they attend the event.
If all else fails we should have a never ending stream of 'brews' and the floors should be spotless (LOL).
There will be some very technical areas where specialist skills have to be used, but at other events I have been involved with before, a willingness to take on seemingly mundane tasks contributes to a succesful operation.

Mike has given me another idea. The sort of PA system needed to inform the whole valley would cause the anti-noise protestors to soil their free-range underwear but is there an IT geek out there who can specify a means by which we can keep the crowd up to date by SMS and charge them for signing up? Anyone know how to do this?
