The important news from DEFRA is that during the last period of consultation on the bye law no negative comments were received. Not only a minister but a legal team is involved in the final sign off - might be the end of the month.

When K7 does eventually run she wont so much need to turn around at the end of the run but do a 'U turn' instead. Hopefully now our government has stopped dicking around with our forests the minister concerned can sign the trials off once and for all.

Great news for all working on the BBP. At the end of this day the message from LDNPA is that the amended bye laws have been signed off by DEFRA and the LDNPA have the paperwork in their office.

Now Operations will press on with the trials procedures in conjunction with our pilot and the mechanical team who will be working on K7 when she gets wet again.

A fantastic result and I'm sure everyone will join me in thanking Malcolm and his team for patiently wading their way through the treacle that is bureaucracy to finally achieve this milestone. Thanks are also due to the LDNPA for championing our cause and to someone they call the Secretary of State, or some such, who had to find a pen that worked and scribble their approval.

So far we've never achieved our 'gold medal position' at any stage of this job. It's been an unfortunate catalogue of one backup plan after the next but we've remained focused and now, with a little luck, all that may be about to change. Fingers crossed!

The ride at Coventry uses Andy's comment as he achieves the supersonic LSR and it is the way he says it (after earlier runs with double chute failure, running too far down the course and an over run of the hour) that raises the hairs on the back of the neck. He was glad to park SSC afterwards.

The restorers now have the opportunity to run K7 and that will be wonderful for me.

I would have thought so too ......... but those with special garments can suggest a lot of other lakes where she ran for publicity, tests, as well as records. If others had thought/think that Coniston Water was/is not the right place then other plans would have fallen into place - and someone did suggest the River Tyne.

Operations are now working on the detailed operating plans for Coniston Water.

It's not as daft as it sounds. There's a whole section of it unrestricted and viewing would be easy as well as having good support for engineering and visitors. On the other hand we'd be in real trouble if we sank our boat in a flowing river and then there's the question of salt in the water.
Bala Lake in Snowdonia was a much better alternate location. It even looks like Coniston.
