Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

400mph is possible, if that’s meters per hour  An interesting note, not sure on how true it is, but in order to work out a true ‘scale speed’, you multiply the actual model speed by the square root of the scale - eg, my 1/12 scale K7 has been GPS measured at 53mph - a scale speed of only 183.6m...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Here’s something a little different from me - in an attempt to make something a bit more exciting in the future, I’ve been converting an old Speedline 1/20th CN7 to radio control. Fully independent suspension and four wheel drive - videos to follow :)

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

That’ll look the muts nuts with the wooden deck - no cheap but definitely worth it!

I’ve been having a bit of a play with getting this thing to work - got it somewhere near now :)

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

The HMS hood is looking the business Richie! Thanks for posting the pictures of ME2 Ernie - she definitely needs to be back on the water - I just need to find some motivation to get cracking with mine now... yours is a work of art. Ernie has already seen this, but included is a pic of my deck cleat ...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Wow, that HMS Hood is a fantastic model! How lucky he ‘missed the boat’, but a fantastic story and family historical connection :) It’s so easy to get lost in detailing these things - I built the 1/350 titanic years ago, converted it to the Olympic, bought all the photoetch hop-ups and still haven’t...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Hope you’re all keeping safe and well - I finally got around to testing crusader last night - just needs the propshaft lowering a tad, no video but snapped a few pics... Also managed to get my spirit of Australia out, see attached video. This was on just under half throttle. 1/8th K7 still having fu...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Turns out Tamiya masking tape isn’t as good as I thought - a bit of bleed, but it’ll touch up /polish out.
The colour I decided on in the end... Halfords brake calliper paint...

Re: Bluebird & Other Scale Models

Now with all this virus malarkey, I’ve had a lot of time on my hands to look at some Crusader stills from the Castrol film. It’s long been disputed about the colour photos showing some kind of gold pinstripe between the red and silver. This gold doesn’t appear on black and white photos. Going back t...
