Re: CN7 BOOK
I would love to know about such topics as the transmission of power to the wheels. The book has included some paragraphs from Norris Bros documents as they scoped out the engine/transmission. The turbo-shaft Proteus was a modified version with power shafting at both ends. Like many turboshaft engin...

Re: New CN7 Book
Does anyone know what became of the film "How Long a Mile" made by Donald Campbell at Lake Eyre? The family members with help from Beaulieu have released a DVD version of How Long a Mile (or Mike). If you are near a "The Works" bookshop many were offering the DVD with a speed re...

Re: Remembering Donald - January 2017
For all and any activity organised by the Speed Record Club which GIna kindly agreed to attend, there had been consultation regarding press, media and cameras and I hope the Club was seen to have met her wishes. In any case we had some 'very well proportioned' club members available had there been a...

Re: Remembering Donald - January 2017
Some of the most moving and poignant moments during the near week of a number of other events which had been organised by the Speed Record Club attending for the 26th time, were not captured by a press scrum or a melee of 'enthusiasts' in attendace only in the village at each decade. A personal view...

Re: Pic of the Day
The picture of the infinity symbol reminds me that beneath the horizontal line is "K7". This is the registration number (7) after the letter K, which stands for Great Britain. However, in 1952 the Crusader boat used only a Union Flag, the infinity symbol and the number "6". The r...

Re: John Cobb- Crusader/Railton Special
On weekdays, during the school term time, the cost of visiting the Railton (and elsewhere in the Think Tank Museum) between 3 pm and 5 pm is just £3.00. A full day for 'concessions' is just £9.50. All prices are as December 2016!

Re: What have forum members been up to?
The plans for painting the scooter as described above seem to be likely to run into a whole host of copyright issues with artists, photographers, Clubs and others, should the work be direct copies of the samples shown. An airbrush artist should be able to do their own work guided by the reference ma...
