Re: Isle of Bute

Just to add some detail to the description given by the 'boss'. The 'school' is the Rothesay Joint Campus site, which is at Townhead on the B881, which is the continuation of the High Street out of town (or about 1 mile straight off the ferry!). Note! the School holidays do end during the second wee...

Re: Return to the Water

What we need is some resourceful folks with a great sense of mischief. The media are our friends so they'd love it too. Anyone up for this? Mischief at a cost - shall I hold the bag with the 'fine' money ready to hand over to the representative of the LDNPA - as that would cut out any need to invol...

Re: Pic of the Day

Apologies to Rolls Royce but you have to have worked with s**t to have come across the phrase that I applied to that small piece of pipe in the pic of the day. The phrase 'solid pipe' is used frequently by those working with sewers and it is a contraction of the full description of "solid wall ...

Re: Return to the Water

Here's a question, Malcolm... Just suppose that Coniston woke up tomorrow suddenly realising the vast opportunity they stand to inherit if only for the application of some superhuman effort, cohesion and proactive work, not to mention their responsibility to the rest of a region that would doubtles...

Re: Pic of the Day

I am sure that when on static display and any panels are off, the team could change that solid pipe for rubber.

Re: Isle of Bute

Our attempt will be with a dedicated hovercraft (no wings), but our hoverwing in "hover-only" guise will be a good guinea pig for getting data and info that we can transfer into a hovercraft dedicated to attempting the record. Currently it stands at 85mph (surprisingly low!) set in 1995. ...

Re: Technical Talk

Major Engineering Projects. Consider and compare the following: A fully working steam locomotive, which had been 'owned' by the Nation for about two years, was found to be in need of a major overhaul (other words used were to be "complete refurbishment"). Why? Because the Museum involved w...

Re: Return to the Water

It's all a bit academic because ............. the LDNPA would scupper them anyway. .... and throwing an extra 31 of their stakeholders in the way that we are supposed to deal with does not bode well... The LDNPA manage Coniston Water, so they control what can take place on it, but the Byelaws guide...
