Re: Pic of the Day

You forgot to mention the three hours it takes once your home to get the choccie sauce off your hands and arms and the aching pain in your fingers from fighting skin-pins all day.

But, yes, it is extremely satisfying when the rivets go in and the old girl once more assumes custody of another panel.

Re: Coniston visit

Carl and I reckoned we couldn't have got any wetter if we'd thrown ourselves in the lake as soon as we'd arrived and that was in no way an exaggeration. After the funeral we went to Windermere via Hawkshead to buy dry clothes, changed in the public toilets at the ferry landing, (smelly as I recall),...

Re: Coniston visit

Don't know how you got a picture of the deck of that boat and its coffin stand (or whatever it's called) when it wasn't swimming with water! The idea was to take Donald back to the crash site. Not sure why though, I'd have thought he'd have had quite enough of it by then. But the weather was shockin...

Re: Coniston visit

Was thinking of checking out Pier Cottage but a happy band of anoraks went there last week on a guided tour only to be told to flippety-blink-off in no uncertain terms by the Pier Cottage incumbent, much to the embarrasment of the tour guide. Don't think we'll be going there, now or in the future!

Re: Coniston visit

I'm off to Coniston on the 21st with the family. Can anyone suggest a few sights and such that we ought to take in while we're there?

Re: Off Topic- Boys Toys

We had a team meeting prior to one of our Norway expeditions at IWM Duxford because they had the right kind of submarine and we needed a look at it. Becuase there was so many of us we were given an old, WWII vintage nissen hut to use as a meeting room and just as I was wondering what sort of history...

No one suggests closing the site. It's just that oft-times words do as much damage as sticks and stones and not everyone is sufficiently thick skinned or articulate to deal with it. As the operators of these forums it's our responsibility to take care of these people and see that they aren't placed ...

Re: Pic of the Day

A museologist once said to me that, people who work in museums aren't exactly dynamic - if they were they'd never work in a museum. In fairness to the Ruskin they have built a bloody-great hall in considerably less time than we've been messing with bits of tin. The problem is that getting anything d...
