Fred’s a good friend of mine, and was of John’s as well, which is how he ended up with those two engines - he’s been a big help to me starting out in moulding and resin casting.
I’m not anywhere near John’s league, like I said, time and patience to do such meticulous work are not things I’m blessed with - I just like a model that works and looks convincing enough whilst on the water at speed.
I particularly love the Miss America X and Miss Grest Britain models of his, truly stunning.
My own Miss America is a converted Chinese static model, again, not spectacular but convincing when on the water.
I’ve got a set of plans for Miss GB so maybe one day :)
My 1/8th Crusader was a joint venture between myself and Ernie Lazenby. Ernie did all the hard work, I added all the detail, paint and have since converted to jet power but yet to test it :)

RichM , John used to have me travelling all over the UK taking photos of boats/ cars and engines for him. I used to show the photos of his models to the curators and surprisingly they allowed me to clamber all over these historic vehicles. I used an 18" rulers marked in different colours and put them alongside parts and photograph them. I unfortunately lost all these photos when I fried my hard drive and hadn't backed them up. John would draw them up and send photos back. I lost Turbinia, Miss GB, Miss England and The RMS car [hey Paul any chance of flipping a couple of photos my way?] He did send me copy plans/drawings of the packard engines and Miss America X, if you want copies give me a pm and we can come to an arrangement for delivery when Covid is over and I can get them copied.
cheers
