Technical Talk
Re: Technical Talk
I remember seeing on tv after the crash bags floating around on the surface-however I have a weights list from K7(I think) clearly stating a weight for the aforementioned pingpong balls!-mebbe from k4 right enough or just a failed design idea-just headed "Blue-Bird"hydroplane.

Re: Technical Talk
When the "tin bashing" nears completion and it is time to start fitting components with threaded fasteners, what, if any, anti-seize/corrosion compound(s) are going to be used ?
In our offshore and sub-sea equipment we use "Stuart Aquashield" . This is a gloopy blueish gunk in tubes, and is pretty universally used in the offshore industry. It really proves it's worth when dismantling gear that has spent years in service, and prevents stainless faseners from galling up in the first place.
Would a free sample tube(s) be of use ?

Re: Technical Talk
Mark - we'd planned to source the stuff they used back in the day. It's a chromate paste of some sort and almost every nut, bolt and screw in K7 just unwound with minimal effort to reveal mint threads. We're putting a fine blast on all the bolts and treating them to a splash of zinc plate but a tube of your blue stuff will certainly come in handy. Thanks...

Yes, I thought you'd be after something authentic. I'll post a couple of tubes anyway, it is pretty useful stuff on any boat, so if not deemed correct for the blue one I'm sure you'll find another use for it !

I read the manual for the zinc kit, will have a go at setting it up on Wednesday
Bill is bringing a pump in to agitate the fluid and we will need some electrical bit and pieces from a certain persons' magic van

Re: Technical Talk
Never mind bilge pumps and zinc plating - we received confirmation today that we have a test cell available to optimise our engines. Or rather, some proper gas turbine specialsts to optimise our engines. The new hose-sets are being made up too to the original drawings and to full aerospace standard - it wouldn't be clever to push high pressure kerosene through 20 year old hoses!
And we have a delivery of supersonic-aircraft rivets coming tomorrow from another aerospace sponsor with which to attach our outer floors so we can be damn-sure the water will stay on the outside and the floors will stay on.
What a pleasure it is to be working with so many professionals.

I must be loosing track as i thought we had a third somewhere? Oh well like i said must be old age creeping in. Its surprising still to this day Mike the weight the Campbells name still carry's and this is why Gina is so protective of all things associated with her Fathers and Grandfathers legacy. People in the past have tried to make a fast buck on the back of the Bluebird's/ Campbells Good name. Not forgetting the sweet talking Geordie Boy who could sell snow to the Eskimos But seriously i have always felt Bill has that unique ability very much like Donald Campbell had in talking to people. He is able to communicate on all levels even with you Mike
