I listened to a bit of Tarja last night (live in Nottingham, that is!).

Well, it wasn't me that added the Marillion demo tracks! I mean, really..?
Not sure what Mike is on today. First we had about two hours of such old Genesis it was sung by Peter Gabriel in short pants and was recorded on an Edison cylinder then we had a Marillion concert from 1980-something. Both were very good but they took us to well past lunchtime and both were brought into the workshop and played by Mike unbidden.

Funny how most of the stuff I brought in disappeared, Metallica, iron maiden, AC DC and the likes all gone
And replaced by some " music" that I'm glad when the rivet guns start, and before you start my stuff doesn't sound like rivet guns,

Missing the point there old chap- I'm quite happy to listen to (early) Marillion and Genesis, but not the SAME Marillion and Genesis, session after session
But it was the SAME - only different versions. Enjoyed it though. Anyway, you can listen to Kylie on purpose so SAME ought to suit just nicely.

You're right - the rivet guns have a nice rhythm to them and don't sound at all like cutting thin-wall stainless on the chop saw with a dry blade whilst someone shouts manically over the top of it.

Yup - agree with that, John's flute grinding was positively melodious by comparison. The girl from the bank whom I speak to most days and who comes across as very gentle and professional told me she'd been to a gig recently and was invited to the aftershow to meet her heroes. I was pleased for her and inquired, as you would, which band it was. I got a bit of a surprise.

The Workshop Music Channel

Post by rob565uk »

My Son bought me "Endless River" for Christmas and I have just given it a full and proper listen - several times in fact. I realised many years ago that if I had to listen to a piece of music more than once to decide if I liked it, then I was probably never going to - and so it is with most of Endless River. There are some high points including Talkin' Hawkin' and my overall favourite Louder Than Words. In general though, the album is very somber and almost full of ghosts ( no pun intended). I detected hints of many previous PF tracks including Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Wish You Were Here. I have not read any reviews of the album, but think it's a shame if this album does indeed represent the final output from arguably the biggest rock band of all time.
