"Well today is a superb day."

...

"Why? Because of what it means for everyone – Michael himself, his loved ones, and his fans. It means that Michael may well see, hear, and feel the love that’s around him. That he is, in some very real way, HERE. It means his life expectancy has now improved VERY significantly. And last, but perhaps most important, it opens up a very real chance for further improvement."

...

"This means rehab, lots of rehab. Michael is used to working hard. Getting that brain to learn new ways of doing things, stimulating it, forcing it to handle data, and all the while working hard to build him up again physically. All very exciting. And very good."

...

"We all need to thank the team taking care of Michael as well as the people around him, for their devotion and patience. Everyone is going to need to be patient – for weeks, months, maybe years."

...

Fantastic news, eh. At least if he's in there he can make some sort of a recovery.

According to widespread reports, Michael Schumacher has come out of his coma and recognised his wife.

Michael Schumacher has come out of his coma and recognised his wife, according to reports.

Broadcaster RT state that Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kem has told local television that the former Formula 1 champion was in a complicated process of recovery, alternating between states of consciousness and sleep as he wakes up from the induced coma.

Kem said she could not elaborate further for fear of breaching his privacy, leaving further comment to the hospital where he is currently being cared.

Fantastic news if the above is correct.

Latest reports are all very carefully worded, but it seems like good news. The question now is what his quality of life will be like, but if he can muster some of the fighting spirit that made him such an F1 legend, there is good cause for optimism ;-)

Newspaper articles are somewhat guarded on what this actually means to the future for the man.

Good news indeed Mike I heard it on the radio the other day also. I feel he is a proud man and is not wanting the world to see him in his weakened state but thats putting it mildly. That is the reason there has been no news for weeks. Which is what we must respect and now allow him time and the privacy to recover. If anybody can battle back from his injuries then I have every faith in him doing so.

Reports say Schumacher has left hospital for home, no facts on his condition but still a step forward.
