What is the ...

What is the football sized object on top of the engine?

When are the Bluebird Project caps back in stock? Can I pre order a couple?

They're the only cap I won't feel a pratt wearing!

Also caps shirts etc available from our very own shop here on the project page.

There are two footballs on top of the engine, these are two high pressure spheres which contain onboard air to start the engine. At present we are using offboard air.

These are quite a lot bigger than a Football - and a lot heavier, I would say..... :D

Thanks for the replies. The shop is out of stock, the bike shed don't answer the 'phone, any other ideas as to where I can buy two blue BBP caps?

Q. What pressure is needed to start the engine?

We must surely have a couple of caps? There's one lying on my bedroom floor, for goodness sakes...

Pressure - it's more about volume but 1100psi in the 100 litre starting trolley is what we consider the minimum for a clean start. When I say clean, I mean within temp limits.

Two ordered just now, hope they're BLUE! There's no way to pick the colour, don't feel a pink one will suit.......
